BANDAGI

Post by hussainkhan55 »

The main cause of my concern is not bandagi itself but the methods and technique used to remember God in bandagi .
My question is :
What are we supposed to repeat in bandagi YA ALI YA MUHAMMAD or merely YA ALi if we are not provided our bol?
Secondly, do we have to follow breathing techniques while sitting for bandagi or it is not necessary?

(because i cant breathe and repeat YA ALI simultaneosly)

Is there any restriction what so ever during BAndagi to sit cross legged like Hindus do or we are allowed to sit in any way we like?

and lastly what we should think about during Bandagi?

positive feedbacks and authenticity of farameens regarding Bandagi is appreciated.

Congratulation Hussain, here are the answers of your questions as per my little ability and knowledge.
Answer # 1
"YA ALI" is the best if you do not received Bol from MHI because it is very short, shorter bol is better than longer bol, but you must know the meaning of the Ya Ali.
Answer # 2
Breathing teqnique is very difficult in starting but once you become used to it it is very easy, now a days MHI does not give breathing teqnique.
So it is not necessary to use breathing method any more.
Answer # 3
There is no restriction how to sit in bandgi so ( but you can not lay down in Jamat Khana and recite your bol which is not right practice) you can choose best "AASAN" which is very comfartable to you and does not bother any one else who sit near you.
Answer # 4
You should not think any thing else besides bol during Bandgi.
There are many books and waez available now a day on meditation you must read these type books and listen these waez which will help you to achive the NOOR, good luck brother.

I agree as well. However something to add: Mowlana Hazar Imam has had numerous farmans to take a tasbih and call the names of Ya Allah, Ya Mohammad, Ya Ali... I would consider this to be an open bol.

There has been some discussion on this subject under:

What is this teqnique? Can you explain it?

In breathing teqnique every time you take your breath or exhaust your breath you must have to hold your breath for a few second.
In short you have to wait for few second after breathing or exhasting your breath, after a long practice( may be after 6 months as per one waez of Rai Abu Ali) you will be able to hold your breath more and more and this teqnique become easier and easier for you.
It is hard practice because after few minutes your breath will be puffed up and you have to take deep breath to adjust your breath with your normal breath and it may be harmful to some individual so it is good idea if you prefer to use this teqnique please start slowly and if you feel tired or your breath puffed up please stop it and start taking normal breath.
Breathing teqnique is also very hard to concentrate in your 'BOL' in starting or for a beginers because in starting all your attention remain on your breath not on bol.
You can try it and you will find out how hard it is for beginers.
FYI Bhagat Kala Ruda was using this method.

Thank you very much!
Are Bol repeated only during a breath-holding or during a whole cycle inhalation - breath-holding - exhalation ?

Code: Select all

BOL should be recited all the time while you are practicing your Bandagi, not only time of breath-holding.

There is a concentration teqnique in the Sunni Sufi tradition: concentration on the certain points (in the heart region and other) during Dhikr. Is there a similar teqnique in the Ismaili tradition?
