Teachable Moments
Many people will walk in and out of your life,
but only true friends will leave footprints in your heart.
To handle yourself, use your head; to handle others, use your heart.
Anger is only one letter short of danger.
If someone betrays you once, it's his fault;
if he betrays you twice, it's your fault.
Great minds discuss ideas;
Average minds discuss events;
Small minds discuss people.
God gives every bird it's food,
but He does not throw it into it's nest.
He who loses money, loses much;
He who loses a friend, loses more;
He who loses faith, loses all.
Beautiful young people are acts of nature,
But beautiful old people are works of art.
Learn from the mistakes of others.
You can't live long enough to make them all yourself.
The tongue weighs practically nothing,
But so few people can hold it.

You learn
Here is another one on the same basis...
After awhile you learn
the subtle difference between
holding a hand and chaining a soul
and you learn that love doesn't mean possession
and company doesn't mean security.
And you begin to learn that kisses aren't contracts
and presents aren't promises and you begin to accept
your defeats with your head up and your eyes ahead
with the grace of an adult not the grief of a child.
And you learn to build your roads today
because tomorrow's ground is too uncertain for plans
and futures have ways of falling down in mid-flight.
After awhile you learn that even sunshine
burns if you get too much so you plant your
own garden and decorate your own soul
instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers.
And you learn that you really can endure
that you really are strong
and you really do have worth
and you learn
and you learn...

I've learned.... that the best classroom in the world is at the feet
of an elderly person.
I've learned.... that when you're in love, it shows.
I've learned....that just one person saying to me, "You've made my

I've learned.... that having a child fall asleep in your arms is one

I've learned.... that being kind is more important than being

The Tongue
===========
It is a helpful tool
That is used as a dangerous weapon
It is so light
Yet we fail to hold it
Instead of using it as a magic wand
To tap a bit of encouragement upon one's heart
Or a smile upon one's face
We use it as a sword to cut people down
Leaving their hearts broken
And their self-esteem low
Instead of using it
To turn ourselves into little angels
Placing blessings upon one's life
We use it to turn ourselves
Into fire-breathing dragons
Who insists on one's life being taken
We use it to curse others
Not realizing we are really cursing ourselves
We must learn to hold this dangerous weapon
Before we kill others as well as ourselves
We must learn to watch the words
That we allow to roll off of it
We must allow it to be known
As a piece of gold from heaven
Instead of the flames from hell

Hold on tightly to what is truly important in life.
Hold on to faith;
it is the source of believing that all things are possible.
It is fiber and strength of a confident soul.
Hold on to hope;
it banishes doubt and enables attitudes
to be positive and cheerful.
Hold on to trust;
it is at the core of fruitful relationships
that are secure and content.
Hold on to love;
it is life's greatest gift of all,
for it shares, cares, and gives meaning to life.
Hold on to family and friends;
they are the most important people in your life,
and they make the world a better place.
They are your roots
and the beginnings that you grew from;
they are the vine that has grown through time
to nourish you, help you on your way,
and always remain close by.
Hold on to all that you are
and all that you have learned,
for these things are what make you unique.
Don't ignore what you feel
and what you believe is right and important;
your heart has a way of speaking
louder than your mind.
Hold on to your dreams;
achieve them diligently and honestly.
Never take the easy way or surrender to deceit.
Remember others on your way
and take time to care for their needs.
Enjoy the beauty around you.
Have the courage to see things differently and clearly.
Make the world a better place one day at a time,
and don't let go of the important things
that give meaning to your life.

ALWAYS LIVE LIFE TO THE FULLEST
Don't let go of Hope.
Hope gives you the strength to keep going
when you feel like giving up.
Don't ever quit believing in Yourself.
As long as you believe you Can,
You will have reason for Trying.
Don't let anyone hold your Happiness in their Hands;
Hold it in yours, so it will always be
within your Reach.
Don't measure success or failure by material wealth,
But by how you Feel;
Our feelings determine the richness of our Lives.
Don't let bad moments overcome You;
Be patient,
and they will pass.
Don't hesitate to reach out for Help;
We all need it
from time to time.
Don't run away from love but towards Love.
Because it is
your deepest Joy.
Don't wait for what you want to come to You.
Go after it with all that You Are,
Knowing that Life will meet you Halfway.
Don't feel like you've lost
When plans and dreams fall short of your hopes.
Anytime you learn something new
About Yourself or about Life,
You have progressed.
Don't do anything that takes away
From your Self-Respect.
Feeling good about Yourself
Is essential to feeling good about Life.
Don't ever forget how to Laugh
Or be too proud to Cry.
Or too stubborn to Smile
Don't ever forget a friend who truly loves You
As it could be that friend who is true to your Needs
Don't ever forget who helped you Grow as your need
for more seeds may often re-appear

EAGLES IN A STORM
Did you know that an eagle knows when a storm is approaching long before it breaks?
The eagle will fly to some high spot and wait for the winds to come. When the storm hits, it sets its wings so that the wind will pick it up and lift it above the storm. While the storm rages below, the eagle is soaring above it.
The eagle does not escape the storm. It simply uses the storm to lift it higher. It rises on the winds that bring the storm.
Moral of the Story:
When the storms of life come upon us -
and all of us will experience them -
we can rise above them by setting our minds and our belief toward God.
The storms do not have to overcome us.
We can allow God's power to lift us above them.
God enables us to ride the winds of the storm that bring sickness, tragedy, failure and disappointment in our lives.
We can soar above the storm.
Remember, it is not the burdens of life that weigh us down, it is how we handle them.

Some years ago on a hot summer day in
Floridaa little boy decided
to go for a swim in the old swimming hole behind
his house.
>
In a hurry to dive into the cool water, he ran out
the back door, leaving behind shoes, socks, and shirt as he went.
>
He flew into the water, not realizing that as he
swam toward the middle
of the lake, an alligator was swimming toward the
shore.
>
His father working in the yard saw the two as
they got closer and
closer together. In utter fear, he ran toward the
water, yelling to his
son as loudly as he could.
>
>
Hearing his voice, the little boy became alarmed
and made a U-turn to
swim to his father. It was too late. Just as
he reached his
father, the alligator reached him. From the dock,
the father grabbed his
little boy by the arms just as the alligator snatched
his legs. That
began an incredible tug-of-war between the two. The
alligator was much
stronger than the father, but the father was much too
passionate to let go. A farmer happened to drive by, heard his
screams,
raced from his truck, took aim and shot the alligator.
>
>
Remarkably, after weeks and weeks in the hospital,
the little boy survived. His legs were extremely scarred by the
vicious attack of the animal.
>
And, on his arms, were deep scratches where his
father's fingernails
dug into his flesh in his effort to hang on to the
son he loved.
>
>
The newspaper reporter who interviewed the boy
after the trauma, asked
if he would show him his scars. The boy lifted his
pant legs.
>
And then, with obvious pride, he said to the
reporter, "But look at my arms. I have great scars on my arms, too. I
have them
because my Dad wouldn't let go."
>
You and I can identify with that little boy. We have scars, too. No,
not
from an alligator, but the scars of a painful past. Some of those
scars are unsightly and have caused us deep regret. But, some wounds,
my friend, are because God has refused to let go. In the midst
of your struggle, He's been there holding on to you.
>
>
God loves you. You are a child of God. He wants to
protect you and
provide for you in every way. But sometimes we
foolishly wade into
dangerous situations, not knowing what lies ahead.
The swimming hole of
life is filled with peril - and we forget that the
enemy is waiting to
attack. That's when the tug-of-war begins -and if
you have the scars of
His love on your arms be very, very grateful. He did
not and will not ever
let you go.
>
>
Please pass this on to those you love. God has
blessed you, so that you
can be a blessing to others. You just never know
where a person is in
his/her life and what they are going through.
>
>
Never judge another persons scars, because you
don't know how they got them. Also, it is soooo important that we
are not selfish to receive the
blessings of these messages without forwarding them to someone else.
>
Right now, someone needs to know that God loves them,
and you love them too ~~~~~ enough to not let them go.

stronger than the father, but the father was much too
passionate to let go. A farmer happened to drive by, heard his
screams,
raced from his truck, took aim and shot the alligator.
>
>
Remarkably, after weeks and weeks in the hospital,
the little boy survived. His legs were extremely scarred by the
vicious attack of the animal.
>
And, on his arms, were deep scratches where his
father's fingernails
dug into his flesh in his effort to hang on to the
son he loved.
>
>
The newspaper reporter who interviewed the boy
after the trauma, asked
if he would show him his scars. The boy lifted his
pant legs.
>
And then, with obvious pride, he said to the
reporter, "But look at my arms. I have great scars on my arms, too. I
have them
because my Dad wouldn't let go."
>
You and I can identify with that little boy. We have scars, too. No,
not
from an alligator, but the scars of a painful past. Some of those
scars are unsightly and have caused us deep regret. But, some wounds,
my friend, are because God has refused to let go. In the midst
of your struggle, He's been there holding on to you.
>
>
God loves you. You are a child of God. He wants to
protect you and
provide for you in every way. But sometimes we
foolishly wade into
dangerous situations, not knowing what lies ahead.
The swimming hole of
life is filled with peril - and we forget that the
enemy is waiting to
attack. That's when the tug-of-war begins -and if
you have the scars of
His love on your arms be very, very grateful. He did
not and will not ever
let you go.
>
>
Please pass this on to those you love. God has
blessed you, so that you
can be a blessing to others. You just never know
where a person is in
his/her life and what they are going through.
>
>
Never judge another persons scars, because you
don't know how they got them. Also, it is soooo important that we
are not selfish to receive the
blessings of these messages without forwarding them to someone else.
>
Right now, someone needs to know that God loves them,
and you love them too ~~~~~ enough to not let them go.
>
"The best remedy for those who are afraid, lonely, or unhappy is to go outside, somewhere where they can be quiet, alone with the heavens, nature and God. Because only then does one feel that all is as it should be and that God wishes to see people happy, amidst the simple beauty of nature. As long as this exists, and it certainly always will, I know that then there will always be comfort for every sorrow, whatever the circumstances may be. And I firmly believe that nature brings solace in all troubles." Anne Frank (1929-1945)
Today
Mend a quarrel. Search out a forgotten friend. Dismiss suspicion and replace it with trust. Write a love letter. Share some treasure. Give a soft answer. Encourage youth. Manifest your loyalty in a word or deed.
Keep a promise. Find the time. Forego a grudge. Forgive an enemy. Listen. Apologize if you were wrong. Try to understand. Flout envy. Examine your demands on others. Think first of someone else. Appreciate, be kind, be gentle. Laugh a little more.
Deserve confidence. Take up arms against malice. Decry complacency. Express your gratitude. Worship your God. Gladden the heart of a child. Take pleasure in the beauty and wonder of the earth. Speak your love. Speak it again. Speak it still again. Speak it still once again.

Life
"Life is an opportunity, benefit from it.
Life is a beauty, admire it.
Life is a dream, realize it.
Life is a challenge, meet it.
Life is a duty, complete it.
Life is a game, play it.
Life is a promise, fulfill it.
Life is sorrow, overcome it.
Life is a song, sing it.
Life is a struggle, accept it.
Life is a tragedy, confront it.
Life is an adventure, dare it.
Life is luck, make it.
Life is life, fight for it!"

Everyday is a challenge. It's not about how much money we can make, how popular we can be, how to achieve perfection and be the greatest but how to be genuine, be a true friend, how to be humble, how to be strong, how to share ourselves based on what we have and make a difference. It's difficult but with faith and wisdom challenge yourself.
It's hard knowing that the test we face each day has something to do with ourselves.
Think positive!! If your mind is full of good things you will attract good things!! Don't be afraid!
There are experiences in life that can be hard but if you just turn bad things into a positive things everything can be possible.
There is hope behind the storm. But if you cannot get behind the storm, then just get through the storm. The storm is only for a season so keep moving, you will eventually move through the storm.
Life is full of people and situations that make you feel so hurt and offended, by what they say or do. But you should always remember everyone cries and everyone lies, but no one deserves to feel that they're alone. So no matter what you're going through, there is always someone who will take the time to listen to you. They'll tell you to just be true to yourself and remember after the rain soon comes the sun to brighten up your day in each and every way! So don't ever lose hope.

54. O devotee, now listen to the Hundred Commandments!
I've learned that you cannot make someone love you. All you can do is be someone who can be loved. The rest is up to them.
I've learned that no matter how much I care, some people just don't care back
I've learned that it takes years to build up trust, and only seconds to destroy it.
I've learned that it's not what you have in your life, but who you have in your life that counts.
I've learned that you shouldn't compare yourself to the best others can do, but to the best you can do.
I've learned that it's not what happens to people that's important. It's what they do about it.
I've learned that it's taking me a long time to become the person I want to be.
I've learned that it's a lot easier to react than it is to think.
I've learned that you should always leave loved ones with loving words. It may be the last time you see them.
I've learned that you can keep going long after you think you can't.
I've learned that we are responsible for what we do, no matter how we feel.
I've learned that either you control your attitude or it controls you.
I've learned that heroes are the people who do what has to be done when it needs to be done, regardless of the consequences.
I've learned that learning to forgive takes practice.
I've learned that there are people who love you dearly, but just don't know how to show it.
I've learned that money is a lousy way of keeping score.
I've learned that my best friend and I can do anything or nothing and have the best time.
I've learned that sometimes the people you expect to kick you when you're down will be the ones to help you get back up.
I've learned that sometimes when I'm angry I have the right to be angry, but that doesn't give me the right to be cruel.
I've learned that true friendship continues to grow, even over the longest distance. Same goes for true love.
I've learned that just because someone doesn't love you the way you want them to doesn't mean they don't love you with all they have.
I've learned that maturity has more to do with what types of experiences you've had and what you've learned from them and less to do with how many birthdays you've celebrated.
I've learned that your family won't always be there for you. It may seem funny, but people you aren't related to can take care of you and love you and teach you to trust people again. Families aren't biological.
I've learned that no matter how good a friend someone is, they're going to hurt you every once in a while and you must forgive them for that.
I've learned that it isn't always enough to be forgiven by others. Sometimes you have to learn to forgive yourself.
I've learned that no matter how bad your heart is broken the world doesn't stop for your grief.
I've learned that our background and circumstances may have influenced who we are, but we are responsible for who we become.
I've learned that sometimes when my friends fight, I'm forced to choose sides even when I don't want to.
I've learned that just because two people argue, it doesn't mean they don't love each other. And just because they don't argue, it doesn't mean they do.
I've learned that sometimes you have to put the individual ahead of their actions.
I've learned that we don't have to change friends if we understand that friends change.
I've learned that you shouldn't be so eager to find out a secret. It could change your life forever.
I've learned that two people can look at the exact same thing and see something totally different.
I've learned that no matter how you try to protect your children, they will eventually get hurt and you will hurt in the process.
I've learned that there are many ways of falling and staying in love.
I've learned that no matter the consequences, those who are honest with themselves, get farther in life.
I've learned that many things can be powered by the mind, the trick is self-control.
I've learned that no matter how many friends you have, if you are their pillar, you will feel lonely and lost at the times you need them most.
I've learned that your life can be changed in a matter of hours by people who don't even know you.
I've learned that even when you think you have no more to give, when a friend cries out to you, you will find the strength to help.
I've learned that writing, as well as talking, can ease emotional pains.
I've learned that credentials on the wall do not make you a decent human being.
I've learned that the people you care most about in life are taken from you too soon.
I've learned that although the word "love" can have many different meaning, it loses value when overly used.
I've learned that it's hard to determine where to draw the line between being nice and not hurting people's feelings and standing up for what you believe.
I've learned that no matter how much I care, some people just don't care back

To those of you who have pushed me - thank you,
Without you I wouldn't have fallen.
To those of you who laughed at me - thank you.
Without you I wouldn't have cried.
To those of you who just couldn't love me - thank you.
Without you I wouldn't have known real love.
To those of you who hurt my feelings - thank you.
Without you I wouldn't have felt them.
To those of you who left me lonely - thank you.
Without you I wouldn't have discover myself.
But it is to those of you who thought I couldn't do it
It is you I thanked the most
Because without you I wouldn't have tried!
Without you I wouldn't have fallen.
To those of you who laughed at me - thank you.
Without you I wouldn't have cried.
To those of you who just couldn't love me - thank you.

At Days End
Is anybody happier
because you passed his way?
Does anyone remember
that you spoke to him today?
When the day is almost over
and its toiling time is through,
is there someone now to utter
a kindly word of you?
Can you say tonight in parting
with the day that's slipping fast,
that you helped a single person
of the many that you passed?
Is a single heart rejoicing
over what you did or said.
Does the man whose hopes were fading
now with courage look ahead?
Did you waste the day or loose it?
Was it well or sorely spent?
Did you leave a trail of kindness
or a scar of discontent?
As you close your eyes in slumber
do you think that you should say,
you have earned one more tomorrow
by the work you did today?

** You Are... **
** You are strong... when you take your grief and teach
it to smile.
** You are brave... when you overcome your fear and help
others to do the same.
** You are happy... when you see a flower and are thankful
for the blessing.
** You are loving... when your own pain does not blind you
to the pain of others.
** You are wise... when you know the limits of your wisdom.
** You are true... when you admit there are times you fool
yourself.
** You are alive... when tomorrow's hope means more to
you than yesterday's mistake.
** You are growing... when you know what you are but not
what you will become.
** You are free... when you are in control of yourself and do
not wish to control others.
** You are honorable... when you find your honor is to honor
others.
** You are generous... when you can take as sweetly as you
can give.
** You are humble... when you do not know how humble you
are.
** You are thoughtful... when you see me just as I am and
treat me just as you are.
** You are merciful... when you forgive in others the faults
you condemn in yourself.
** You are beautiful... when you don't need a mirror to tell you.
** You are rich... when you never need more than what you have.
** You are you... when you are at peace with who you are not.

A Himalayan Saint
Love and serve all mankind, Assist everyone
Be cheerful, be courteous
Be a dynamo of irrepressible happiness
See God and good in every face
There is no saint without a past
There is no sinner without a future
Praise every soul
If you cannot praise someone, let them pass out of your life
Be original, be inventive
Dare, dare, and then dare more
Do not imitate. Stand on your own ground
Do not lean on the borrowed staff of others
Think your own thoughts. Be yourself
All perfection and all virtues of God are hidden inside you, reveal them
God is already within you reveal Him
Let God emancipate you. Let your life be that of a rose
Through silence it speaks in the language of fragrance
Love and serve all mankind, Assist everyone
Be cheerful, be courteous
Be a dynamo of irrepressible happiness
See God and good in every face

The Laws Of Life
Whatever you give away today
or think, or say, or do
Will multiply about tenfold, and
then return to you
It may not come immediately
nor from the obvious source
But the LAW applies unfailingly
through some invisible force
Whatever you feel about another
be it love,or hate, or passion
Will surely bounce right back to you
in some clear or secret fashion
If you speak about some person
a word of praise or two
Soon tons of other people
will speak kind words to you
Our thoughts are broadcasts of the soul
not secrets of the brain
Kind ones bring us happiness
petty ones, untold pain
Giving works as surely
as reflections in the mirror
If hate you send, hate you'll get back
but loving brings loving nearer
Remember as you start this day
and duty crowds your mind
That kindness comes so quickly back
to those who first are kind
Let that thought and this one
direct you through each day
Never forget that the only things we ever keep
are the things we give away

You can know the name of a bird in all the languages of the world, but when you're finished, you'll know absolutely nothing whatever about the bird... So let's look at the bird and see what it's doing -- that's what counts. I learned very early the difference between knowing the name of something and knowing something.

The Next Time Someone Is Rude to You...
The only gift is a portion of thyself.
-Ralph Waldo Emerson
From "Celebrating Silence" by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar:
What do you do when someone behaves rudely to you?
Get upset.
Respond rudely.
Become frustrated.
Run away from the person or avoid the situation in the future.
Blame the person.
Preach to the person.
None of these will in any way strengthen you. What are the options? See someone's rude behavior in this light:
Rudeness indicates the intensity of their commitment.
It indicates their level of stress and insensitivity.
It attests to the upbringing of the person.
It indicates a persistent behavioral pattern.
It shows a lack of knowledge.
It shows a lack of insight into their own mind and its sensations.
It shows you behavior to avoid.
It is an opportunity for you to welcome and absorb the rudeness.
It strengthens your mind.
It renders unconditional the love that you are.
The next time someone is rude to you, make sure you do not get upset. Just return a broad smile. If you can digest rudeness, nothing whatsoever can shake you.

Rediscover the Art of Civility
The only truly happy man is always a fighting optimist. Optimism includes not only altruism but also social responsibility, social courage and objectivity.
-W. Beran Wolfe
From "Choosing Civility" by P. M. Forni:
Angrily contested parking spaces, cellular telephones ringing everywhere, blasting stereos searing the night, offensive anonymous Internet messages, volleys of racial or homophobic epithets in the streets and out-of-control bullying in the schools; shrill fellow air travelers, narcissistic co-workers, yelling supervisors, pushy shoppers, surly salespeople, littering campers, needlessly honking drivers, unsupervised small children disturbing the peace in public places, domineering and snappy stressed-out spouses, and self-serving friends. At the end of the twentieth century we started to have a clear sense that incivility was becoming a problem that couldn't be ignored. We saw a connection between rampant incivility and a diminished quality of life. It is our job to now to increase and spread that awareness and make concerted efforts to bring about the changes so many of us seem ready to welcome.
I suggest that we seek ways to
improve the living conditions and prospects of the poor and the disenfranchised;
rediscover the teaching of civility and good manners as an invaluable tool to improve everybody's quality of life;
create opportunities for connection among the members of our communities in order to curb the trend toward more and more anonymity, in other words, revitalizing, civil society; and
lower the amount of stress in everyday life, especially in the workplace.
Just about the most important thing we do in life is interacting with other human beings. Shouldn't improving the quality of this interaction be at the top of our agendas? Being civil in our everyday lives is a time-tested way to bring about such improvement. A better quality of human interaction makes for a better life--a saner, more meaningful, healthier, and happier life. It is that simple. It is really that simple. All we have to do is stop, think about it, and then act. The sooner, the better.

Ripples
Drop a pebble in the water: just a splash, and it is gone;
But there's half-a-hundred ripples circling on and on and on,
Spreading, spreading from the center, flowing on out to the sea.
And there is no way of telling where the end is going to be.
Drop a pebble in the water: in a minute you forget,
But there's little waves a-flowing, and there's ripples circling yet,
And those little waves a-flowing to a great big wave have grown;
You've disturbed a mighty river just by dropping in a stone.
Drop an unkind word, or careless: in a minute it is gone;
But there's half-a-hundred ripples circling on and on and on.
They keep spreading, spreading, spreading from the center as they go,
And there is no way to stop them, once you've started them to flow.
Drop an unkind word, or careless: in a minute you forget;
But there's little waves a-flowing, and there's ripples circling yet,
And perhaps in some sad heart a mighty wave of tears you've stirred,
And disturbed a life was happy ere you dropped that unkind word.
Drop a word of cheer and kindness: just a flash and it is gone;
But there's half-a-hundred ripples circling on and on and on,
Bearing hope and joy and comfort on each splashing, dashing wave
Till you wouldn't believe the volume of the one kind word you gave.
Drop a word of cheer and kindness: in a minute you forget;
But there's gladness still a-swelling, and there's joy acircling yet,
And you've rolled a wave of comfort whose sweet music can be heard
Over miles and miles of water just by dropping one kind word.
