Where did this Majlis originate from? How come it o­nly takes place in the western countries? How come people in Pakistan, India and Africa don't know about this? Thanks.
It has a very old origin. It was celebrated in honor of the day when the Imam will manifeste and is bringing the end to the problems of the person fasting that day. This is linked to "Mowla Mushkil Khusha" or "Mowla Mushkil Gusha", a title of Hazrat Ali but also a name of of God in the ancient Mesopotamian religions.
Like all other things that some of our learned people do not understand, they are saying that we should get rid of that majlis [they did that successfully in some countries] - it is but their own loss! And then the same people complaint that they are overburdened by problems.
