According to Pune’s hussaini Brahmins Punjabi immigrants, their ancestors fought alongside Imam Hussein in the battle of Karbala (now in modern Iraq).

As per the community members of Hussaini Brahmins, One of their ancestors named Rahab dutt travelled all the way to Arabia to help his friend Imam Hussain. He fought war against Yazid along with his sons, all of his son were killed in the fierce battle of Karbala.

Historical accounts say seven brave warriors from Lahore died while fighting in the Battle of Karbala. It is said their father Rahab Dutt, an old man who traded with Arabia in those days, had promised the Holy Prophet (Peace be upon him) to stand by his grandson in his fight to uphold the truth.
