Jug Dwaapur-me jagan aadhariya - Translation

Below is a tentative translation of the ginan 'Jug Dwaapur-me jagan aadhariya'. I am open for any correction or comments.

Jug Dwaapur-me jagan aadhariya
Pir Sadardin

Jug dwaapur me jagan aadhariyo
tiyaa(n) rikhiye(n) ku(n) teddi bolyaavyaa ..Saami 1


In Dwaapur joog they (Bhramins) performed yagna and invited all the momins.

Rikhiyu(n) shabd naa maaniyo
te to jai rahiyaa van maa(n)he ...Saami 2


Momins did not listen to Imam (followed the farman) and went and stayed in forest.

Van maa(n)he vaariyaa zu(m)paddaa
maathe chaare kor chamar ddhariyaa ...Saami 3


They (momins) build a hut in forest, beautifully decorated it from all the four sides.

Rikhiyaa ne trasnaa upani
te to chi(n)taa kare man maa(n)he ...Saami 4


Momins got thirsty, and started worrying in their mind.

Visnave upaai ek vaavddi
maathe ubho mavddaano jhaadd ...Saami 5


Vishnu (miraculously) produced a well and on surface a tree of mavddaa. (Given them both the options, water from well and liquid from the fruit)

Vaavddi/baavddi (Marathi language): well (kuvQ) or it can be vaaddi (garden)
Mavddo: A type of fruit which has intoxicated liquid.

Paakaa mavddaa maa(n)he ttab ttabe
tenu paanni pidho nav jaay ...Saami 6


The juice from mavddaa (fruit) is dripping due to it is very ripe and juicy, but it is prohibited to drink the liquid (juice) from that fruit.

Rikhiyaane trasnaa upani
tenne paanni pidho tin maa(n)he ...Saami 7


Momins got thirsty, and drank the juice from that fruit.

Paanni pidhe khudiyaa upani
te to chi(n)taa kare man maa(n)he ...Saami 8


After drinking the juice now they are hungry, and started worrying in their mind.

Visnave upaai ek vaachaddi
te to charti fire van maa(n)he ...Saami 9


Vishnu (miraculously) produced a calf, which is wandering and grazing in forest.

Rikhiyaane khudiyaa upani
tenne maari khaadhi Shaahaa ni gaay ...Saami 10


Momins got hungry; they slaughter the cow of Imam and ate.

Kotte janoi haathe laakaddi
saami vachaddi ddhu(n)ddhavaa jaay ...Saami 11


Wearing janoi and a stick in hand (guise of bhraahmin) Lord went to find the calf.

Tame rikhisar devtaa
tame iyaa(n) kaa(n)y deetthi gaay eji ...Saami 12


Oh you momins like angel, have you seen a cow here?

Ame rikhisar devtaa
saami shu(n) re jaannu(n) taari gaay ...Saami 13


We are angel momins Oh Lord, we do not know the whereabouts of your cow.

Kotte janoi haathe laakaddi
saami maddhuli ddhu(n)ddhavaa ne jaay ...Saami 14


Wearing janoi and a stick in hand (guise of bhraahmin) Lord went to find the cow.

Pahelaa nisariyaa haad paa(n)saraa
pachhe nisariyaa pag chaar ...Saami 15


First He found bones and ribs, and then found four legs.

Charann mu(n)ddi sarve nisari
teni khaladdi kare jamkaar ...Saami 16


Head and legs everything was found and He is laughing, making mockery front of everyone put those (momins) in shame.

Tame kahetaa ame Devtaa
tame kaa(n)y re khaadhi mori gaay ...Saami 17


You (momins) said we are angel, why did you eat my cow.

Ame bhulaa ame baavraa
saami amne laagi khudiyaa ...Saami 18


We were lost and we became foolish Oh Lord we were hungry.

Aage pa(n)th nav jaanntaa
saami bhuladdaa ne paar lagaay ...Saami 19


We did not know the consequence; Oh Lord please abode the forgetful ones.

Tab re Naaraayann kopiyaa
te rikhiyaane baa(n)dhi chalaay ...Saami 20


Then the Lord agreed and tied them with some pledge.

(May be ask them to carry the remainder of their feast (bones, legs & head) and walk in the populated town so that people do their (momins) nindaa)

Pir Sadardin boliyaa
saami rikhiyaanaa bandh choddaay ...Saami 21


Pir Sadardin pleaded; “Oh Lord free the momins from the promise” (pledge).


Note: This ginan is nothing to do with Paanddav brothers. Although the story is similar but not precisely the same. According to the above ginan this event happened in Dwaapur joog to the momins of that time. We know that Paanddav brothers were there but their story is different this is nicely explained in Das Avtaar Motto in Avtaar Navmo (part: Ninth Avtaar). And their story took place in Kaljug in the time of Budh Avtaar.
