Yaum-e-Ali = Dec 13?

Post by sr75 »

Should this day be considered and celebrated as such?
Is Dec 13 more significant, or not?

MHI's Birthday

Post by kmaherali »

I am not sure what you are getting at? Why would MHI's birthday not be of significance? Don't we attach more significance to the living Imam as opposed to the Imams of the past?

Thanks for the link.
Rather I should have phrased it: if we do not celebrate it as though it was the equivalent of dec 13, with the view that the noor of imam is everliving, why would we celebrate it at all other than to affirm our shia identitiy (and therefore just stick to hazar imam's birthday)?

Thanks for the clarification. In my opinion we celebrate it because he was the first Zaheri Imam. However, we do not really celebrate it as such. We simply mark it as an important occassion in our history. There isn't more than Thar Sufro and Ghat Paat in JKs. As you said, it is more of an occasion to affirm our Identity and perhaps to remind us of the extra ordinary circumstances behind his birth.

Imam Sultan Mohammad Shah said that it is the most important day in history of Ismailism.
It is not of less Importance because it is the birthday of the first Manifest Imam Hazrat Mowla Ali and there are interesting stories regarding birth of Ali [A.S] in Ginans and Hadiths.

Shouldn't this event be kushali? To me it is one of the most important events in Ismailism.
