Ethical Dilemma

Post by samirziz »

I have sort of an ethical dilemma, not really sure what to do, so i thought maybe your experiences and your advise may help me make the right choice.

Many of us at some point in our lives have had to make choices, some that complement the ethics of our faith and others that conflict with our faith. And we have had to deal with the consequences. How do we know that the decision we are to make conflicts or complements the ethics of our faith.?

Do choices that conflict with our religion and its ethics make the choice wrong?

I would much appreciate the advise and opinion from all of you to help me decide.

In some cases a sin may not be sin for example saying lie is generally considered as a sin but suppose if some one wants to kill an innocent person "XYZ" and ask you "Have you seen where XYZ is hiding?" At that time speaking truth will be harmful so much that it can take life of some innocent person. At that case saying lie will not be unethical or sin.
There can be many more examples.

I agree with you munir! An example of what you are saying is in the movie “Dus Kahaniyaan”, 3rd story “Strangers in the Night” http://www.desivideos.net/2007/12/17/du ... vie-hindi/

I think Sin depend on intend not on the act or result! Although decision making is tough process, sometimes we don’t have much time to think. When I am in an ethical dilemma and have time to think, I put someone else in place and make decision, someone whom I trust like my mom, I would say if she in such a situation what would she do and I get my answer…. For complex problems I think of our history, how Prophets and Imam’s dealt with such problems. And if still I don’t get an answer I live it on Allah…. I would say “I did my best with what knowledge I had to be on straight path, now I m unable to decide I seek refuge in you decide what’s best for me and keep me on siratal mustaqim, you are all knowing” and leave everything on Allah and time makes decision…! After all we recite “ (o Prophet) indeed those who give you their allegiance, they give it but to Allah, Allah’s hand is upon their hands, then he who breaks it, He certainly breaks it against himself, and he who fulfils what he has pledge with Allah, He shall in return reward him in plenty” I did my best to Follow what Prophets or Imam’s did but now I don’t find a solution, I seek refuge in you, my hand is in your hand and its your responsibility not to let me loose you, help me in decision making….

I first try to work out things by my heart and brain if still I don’t find a solution, I try to work it out by my soul, even then if I don’t find a solution I use my faith and leave on Allah but this needs patients.
