suicide

Hi ya'll. I'm not really sure what's going on or why this is happening, but in the United States, in the past week, we've had 3 Ismailies, all from different areas commit suicide. I know this is a touchy subject, but I really think that as a Jamat, this issue needs to be addressed. Anyways, I don't ...

Someone had mentioned that it's the responsibility of religious teachers to teach students the value of Jamatkhane. Trust me, as a teacher, I've tried- and ultimately, it comes down the upbringing of the parents. We only have the students once a week for 3 hours- whereas the parents have them from b...

Hi. I totally agree- I don't think dandia is bad at all- it's a form of celebration to show our happiness for the Imam. I think a lot of people, especially extremists, have this perception that anything that's fun must somehow be bad...I once heard in a waez where Imam SMS was eating delicacies of s...

Hi..I'm somewhat confused because some of the quotes here represent evolution, such as: “Verily, We created them and strengthened them, and when we willed, We replaced them completely by people who were not of the same kind.” 76/28 . However, other quotes focus more on creationism: Quran 11:7 “He it...

mosque vs. masjid

Hi. I was wondering, often times when talking to non-Ismailies, do you refer to Jamatkhane, as Mosque or Masjid, or do you say you're going to Jamatkhane? I know it doesn't really seem like a very critical issue, but I think it is something that should be clarified. I was reading this interview by H...

Thanks sheri, as well as everyone else, for ya'lls input. can humans BE God?

Hi. In my REC class, we were having a discussion which I guess I believe, but I wasn't too sure about it- we believe that God is everywhere, and He is a part of us, and that we're also a part of Him. After doing Ibadat, etc., we have to power to be one with Him as well..but in REC, my teacher said t...

Hi ya'll. I know that as Ismailies, we believe that Christianity is a religion of the book, and that Jesus was not the son of Christ, but a Prophet instead.
