Ya Ali madad!
Not sure whether this is the best place to post this, but I noticed that the dates of the deaths of the A'immah in Farhad Daftary's book The Isma'ilis differ from the sources provided by Heritage Society. Does anyone know which source is correct?

Jamaatkhana in Glenview, IL?
Ya Ali madad!
I heard rumors that Ismailis in the Northshore area of Chicago were trying to build a jamaatkhana in Glenview. Does anyone know what came of it?
Thanks!

Ya Ali madad! An official website would not be able to provide the wealth of information that this website can. An official website would provide only information it can endorse without any hesitation whatsoever. I doubt an official website would even permit a forum. I cannot recall any official web...

Ya Ali madad! As far as the Druze as concerned, trying to find a group might be useless. The Druze are secretive about their religion. They, furthermore, do not recognize converts. The higher beliefs and practices of the religion are kept even from members of the religion. The Druze divide their soc...

Ya Ali madad! There is a Bohra mosque in the southern suburbs of Chicago. I really shocked them when I went there (I know they wore white, so I wore a white shalwar kurta). I really seemed like an outsider and didn't get any straight answers from the guy I spoke with. I think being closed, as far as...

Ya Ali madad! Thanks! What's it like being an Ismaili in Karachi? What does it feel like belonging to one of the few successful and hard-working minorities in Pakistan? How regular is the average Ismaili in Karachi (that is, how often do they attend jamaatkhana)? Do Ismailis tend to live close to ea...

Ya Ali madad! Exactly. I'm in Karachi for some time. I've been studying about Ismailism for years now, and would like to deepen that knowledge by meeting some Ismailis. In all these years, I have not met even one Ismaili. The written word can teach, but the spoken word is a better teacher. Mowla haf...

Looking for any Ismaili in Karachi to discuss Ismailism
Assalam aleikum wa ya Ali madad! I am currently in Karachi for some time - a few months, probably - and while here I would like to take advantage of the presence of such a strong community of Ismailis. I know I may be treading on sensitive ground here, so please forgive me if this is untoward. I wou...

Assalam aleikum wa ya Ali madad! Your intentions are good, but unfortunately no one can succeed. There are certain types of Muslims who believe what they know to be fact, regardless of what anyone else may say and regardless of whether it is actually fact or not. Such people cannot be reasoned with....

Well, there seems to some indication that the Hindus may have been right. Words of Imam are more important than the words of Allah .. Interesting Well, this is one area where Ismailis have a similarity with Ithna 'Ashari Shias: both Ismaili and Ithna Ashari Shias believe that the Imam's words constitute a part of hadith. When Ithna 'Ashari Shias talk about hadith and sun...

Differences in belief between Bohras and Nizaris
Assalamu aleikum! What are the differences between Bohra Ismailis and Nizari Ismailis? I know that practice-wise the both groups differ remarkably - so much so that one would not consider them part of the same group (Ismailis) of Shi'ism. Yet, how do they differ doctrinally and theologically? (Besid...

Assalamu aleikum min Mowla Hazir Imam! Some time ago, at a family function, a cousin of mine told some of our relatives how he had read that the Imam would be getting a divorce. The conditions of the divorce were quite high, and this interested him to do more research on the Aga Khan. (He was born a...

How is entrance of non-Ismailis into jamaatkhane prevented?
I am not sure if this is the best forum to put it in, but here goes. Addresses of many jamaatkhane are available online. What would happen if a non-Ismaili tried to enter one of the jamaatkhane? (I know there are a number of Westerners, often with no official religious affiliation, who like to go to...

Asslamu aleikum min Mowla Hazir Imam! This shows, once again, how Nizari Ismailism has kept Islam pure and undefiled and how it continues to occupy a position of great importance in Islam. As a non-Ismaili, it is very clear that the Ismaili jamaat has a very crucial role in not only helping non-Musl...

Ya Ali madad! As mentioned by someone else before, breaking the baiat is not an executable offense.
