I have not heard anything along those lines for any of our Imams and nor about Prince Aly Khan. I even tried googling them on the net to find something even close to what your saying, but nothing popped up. The closest information I found on the net was regarding Prince Aly Khan: "Due to his we...

Sheza, Once Prophet Muhammad was asked "What is the best Islam?" In his response, "The best Islam is when you live in peace among the people you know and among the people you do not know." Notice, the "best Islam" is not praying to the Lord day and night, in fact, it is...

Journey to Mecca

Has anyone seen the Journey to Mecca: In the Footsteps of Ibn Battuta? I was thinking of going to the IMAX, but wasn't sure if it was worth it. On the same note, I wanted to know who Ibn Battuta is. Is he linked to Ismailism in some way? Just curious.

In Toronto, the Golden Jubilee Darbar day 1, Hazar Imam mentioned that the Imam is never loaded! This again is open to interpretation. I have spoken to several people to get their understanding of this. The two most common interpretations are as follows: 1. Loaded = Rich. The Imam showers all the ba...

Obama's speech in Cairo, Egypt

For those who haven't heard Obama's speech in Cairo, I would suggest that you take a look at it. He spoke very highly of the Muslim world and it's inventions, mentioned Al-Azhar University twice in the speech, and quoted the Holy Quran thrice. http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2009/images/06/04/obama.ane...

I have also heard that if someone commits suicide, you are not supposed to bury him/her in the same cemetry as other Ismailis. Please shed some light on this whether or not this is correct.

My guess would be because Jews and Christians don't regard Prophet Ismail of any significance. They turn to Prophet Ibrahim and Isaac. Since this story is about Prophet Ismail and not Isaac, the other people of the books don't really pay any attention to it. But again, I don't know much about the de...

He is the head of the Chisti sect of Sufism. They go to his Durga and pray to him. They regard him as a medium between them and Allah. If you watch the Indian movie Jodha Akbar, Akbar (Rithik Roshan) is from the Chisti sect and goes to the Durga to pray.

There is an English translation of The Code of Conduct by Qadi Noman. I purchased it from the Jamat Khana library for $2 or $3. So it's not very expensive. News article about an Ismaili family in Ottawa

A friend of mine sent me the following link from the Ottawa Citizen posted in January 2009. It talks about an unfortunate incident that occurred with an Ismaili family. What caught my attention is that the non-Ismaili newswriter, Kelly Egan, briefly talks about how close-knit the Ismaili community i...
